With iPhone's camera being so handy, I am using it to take random shots to blog!

My mother has been hooked onto Korean drama, so much so that when she preparing for new year eve (the Eng calendar version), she was cutting veggie on the sofa while watching TV!

My favourite people (minusing 1 - Fei Gek) went out for dinner at my favourite teochew mui place.

Of all my gifts that I prepped for Christmas, I actually spelt wrongly Christmas to my almost-English-teacher in my ex company! Ohhh the irony :P

When I was in Chiangmai for work, one of the delegates threw away the below bottled water.

Then a Thai local commented "the one who throw this away surely have not been through flooding. We been through we know how precious water is."

This makes me reflective and realised in life, we took too many things for granted.

Anyhows, bought a camera (second - hand but one I wanted all along nonetheless) so hopefully in time to come, would have fanciful and meaningful posts!

Spring Cleaning!

Did spring cleaning for the lunar new year.

ACKS! Most hated chore! But since 3 years ago, with my slave - Nick spring cleaning isn't quite a dreadful activity to do before CNY.

He takes very active role in cleaning my room for me giving me a nose-free-allergy-free chore!!! :D :D :D :D

And BEST part? Year to year, he discover more of my pattern and preference so now he will do the way I like it.

Wonderful man!

This is one part of my room I took 2 hours to clean. During the 2 hours, Nick vacummed the top of my wardobe, wiped whatever is on my table and my dresser and both of its surfaces.

Most pleased with this cupboard.

At the top shelf of it, it is souveniers that friends bought for me from whereever they travelled to or those I bought during my trips. Someday, my own home would have glass cabinet to display such items :)

A Reason

Nick and I had a rather huge fight 2 days ago. Rather huge for we did not talk for 2 days or rather, he was so nasty that I ignored him.

If you know me you would know that ignoring is the worst treatment I give to somebody. It is when you completely cut off the communication giving no chance for a make-up.

All man please understand, it is never one thing a woman is mad at you for.
To be so mad and so upset, it has to be a series or accumulations of your wrong-doings that caused your girlfriend to be so much so of that.

For me, what sparked off was Nick walked away from me.
I could go into stories why I hated it but let's leave this to another blog post.

A wise friend of mine said "I hope for the times he walked away from you, you would found a reason for him to walk back again or to walk with him".

I found a reason for the 3rd time he walked away from me today.

He hand delivered flowers to my office!!! As an apology gift!!
Nick has only gotten me flower 3 times!

Once - in Shanghai.
Twice - my 2009 birthday.
Third - random game we were playing in Daiso and he bought me a soft toy flower.

This 4th time round , he hand delivered flowers to my office receptionist and wrote a cute lill card.
A card that I daresay outshine the flowers really :)

Such love such love. :)

Malacca Trip!

Nick and I visited Malacca in mid-Dec! 2D1N.

There were many coaches departing everyday to Malacca but we took Luxury Tours coach as they have best arrival and depature times - 8am depart SG reach Malacca 12odd and 4.30pm depart Malacca reach back SG 10oddpm.

Checking -in!

We stayed in Courtyard @ Hereen hotel - deluxe room but got upgraded to junior suite. It is rated top 5 in TripAdvisor and supposedly the pricer boutique hotel in Malacca.

But its worth the price!
+ Cosy hotel.
+ The location is fantastic - just a stone throw away from Jonker Street (more about it later).
+ Excellent guest services.
+ Good breakfast!

They have their own car park so if driving up from Malaysia, no sweat. And we did spot a few Singapore cars there.

The room decor is, apparantely, different in each room.

The hotel have a map that states all the "food to try" in Malacca. Armed with that and recommendations from Lynn, we headed out for lunch after checking in.

We wanted to try Nancy Restoran. Don't mention the restaurant to Nick! He will blood boil!
When we were there , it was a Sunday and so many many people - Singaporeans & Malaysians. Its school holidays for both nations so Malacca itself is very crowded.

Nancy Restoran is also one of the more famous one SOOOOO we spent quite a while q-ing. They didn't have good q management system which makes Nick SUPERRRR pissed and we decided to head off to try another eatery.

Unfortunately we didn't manage to take picture of the eatery we went to! The camera settings went a lill weird (my fault). By then we were too hungry anyways!

We ordered mee siam. Its the dried version and ordered chendol!

YUMSSS. Love it much but Nick wasn't too impressed.

We checked out the famous red building in Malacca - Christchurch.

There were 2 more attractions that were connected within the vinicity. But to be honest, much as I am an attractions person, Malacca's attraction nothing much. We even tried visiting the musuem at RM5! Rather -_-

I thought we looked awkward. Not to mentioned I thought I look fat.

We headed to this famous Capitol Satay eatery. Recommended by Lynn and Yong Kok. Lok-lok in satay sauce.

Luckily we were the 2nd one in the Q! MADNESS MADNESS Q!

Not very cheap in Malcca's standard but super shiok. Nick says he enjoys this the most.

Malacca like Bangkok has a famous weekend market haha. It is known as Jonker Walk. Opens on weekends from 6pm onwards, the whole street of Jonker Walk is closed to car and lill quaint stores will remain open with some make shift stalls outside on the road.

I read online and that it is supposedly good hunt for antiques and such. Unfortunately, there wasnt much to buy.

We did buy something - a gift for Darrell! Can't wait to present to him.

It is a Chinese written sayings with all of his company name inscribed. Very old school but very auspicious. Hope this brings him wealth and luck!

We had dinner at this lau-pa-sat style coincidentally, chanced upon the guy that served us from the afternoon eatery! So friendly. So heartwarming to see the full effect of tourism affecting Malacca and its people.

Within a day, we covered most of what Malacca has. Malacca has another side of the river to check out but we didn't. It wasn't accessible by walking.

Before we headed off the next day, we went to eat the famous chendol.

Malacca is the perfect epitome of where the Q is, is where the good food is at.

Nice lill town with a short getaway, I enjoyed myself very very much. But if there's no locals for you, best to just go there for a day trip or a 2D1N!

If I need to find A reason why I love Nick much, the ONE reason is that he simply never make me feel unhappy or compromised if he could.

Case in example - I am dying to watch this drama online and the program that I streamed online has to be re-downloaded. It wasn't working so what did he do?

He went home, sent me via email and if still unable, he is finding ways and means to send to me the program for me to download the program so I can watch my drama.

He gives me nothing but the best.

October of this year has been a rather emotional month for me; in more ways than one.

1) Left TTG

TTG was the company I worked for a good whole 3 years.
I am very close with my colleagues such that we would make plans on weekends to hang out even after seeing each other 8hours / 5 days.

My boss likes me enough to give in my whims and requests.

I was senior enough to have things going my way, taking the ocassional day off (ah-hem) and there was a trip planned to US should I stay on.

It was a comfortable environment.

But thats the reason why I chose to leave. To be honest, the feeling of being unhappy in my job has built up over the past few months. Initially, I brushed it away thinking it is one of those usual cycles but gradually, the dread feeling became stronger.

I am not someone who settled for second best (generally) or that settled just because.

3 years with the company it is too much for a comfortable environment. I might learn but my learning curve is getting gentler. I needed a steeper learning curve, I needed to do more and I needed to do something different.

Wells, if you know me you should know there is never a reason for just a decision made / emotions felt. It usually is an accummulation of reasons / factors / emotions.

I was getting frustrated with my boss (the one who likes me, unfortunately). I was getting frustrated with the vendors. I was getting frustrated with the office location. I was getting frustrated with some of my incompetent colleagues.

So many reasons for me to leave.

And so I did.

It was a rather hurried departure! Everybody was travelling and there was no proper farewell party in Singapore of sort which I am sure, it may not have serve its purpose because I plan to catch my colleagues often!

And guess what they got for me??

They super-imposed my face to my all time idol - Kevin Cheng's "poster". HAHAHAHAHA my goodness I literally ROL - Roar Out Loud!

It was rather emotional for me when I left the office. I sat in Gek's car, quiet as a mouse and occassionally sprout my memories of TTG to Gek.

2) Started on a new job

Unfortunately, I did not have much time to rest! I had Thurs and Fri off which I was occupied with a good friend of Nick's wedding so not much time to rest and I am back to work on a Monday.

I am now with Pacific World - Account Executive.
Doing events especially in the MICE industry, serving clients who are wanting to do their events in Singapore.

On second day of my work, I was involved in an event took place in Ku De Ta.
Subsequently, I came across few proposals my clients did that had events taking place in really high end places in Singapore.

This is new and refreshing and although the scale of event is smaller than my previous job role - Exhibitions, it was still many learning experience for me.

Now it is 2nd week to the job and I am enjoying it!
I never regret my decision to leave and take this on.

Bless me with smooth sailing and more enjoyable work ahead!

3) Licensed driver
I am finally a licensed driver!
After 4 tries of BTT, 3 tries of ADT and 4 tries of TP, I am now offically a driver.

I nearly teared ok. If I failed this time of TP again, I would need to re-take my ADT. ARGH!!!

There was one point I thought I could fail, turning into wrong lane. But heng ah, apparantely not major error for a failure.

The 3 above were already causing my emotions on turmoil.
There is another happening going on but till I have more concrete update then I shall update!

In the meantime, I am enjoying life. :)
Would be better if I get more moolah :))
And lesser of a fleshy figure :P

Wonderful Man I have

I have really a wonderful boyfriend.

Here is one example:

At one of the random dinner in KFC, he intentionally bought cheese fries and up-sized lemon tea.

All of his actions taken were no comments from my part. I just said I wanted 2 piece of chicken and lemon tea.

Him being the wonderful him, took the initiative to buy cheese fries as I once commented I like cheese fries and he upsized my drink instead of his.

Oh my wonderful wonderful man.

So many friends of mine have posted on FB on how some men are like.

I am so so so blessed to have you. You are not all perfect but you are the best to me :))

Penang Trip

We visited Penang some time in March! 3D2N.

Jetstar ticket about S$120 but if booked early, could get under S$100.
We drove around there with 5 of us splitting the bill.

Booked Sunway Hotel. LOUSIEST HOTEL. NEVER EVER STAY THERE. The only good thing is the location. But the location doesn't make up for its lousy-ness.

My friend provided us a list of places to go in Penang. Managed to search for some postal code and did manage to locate some good places.

Funnily, we all arrived in Penang different timing. Sher and Wan - wee hours in the morning. Nick and I - morning. Gek, all by herself - afternoon.

Time of the Year - My Birthday!

My gosh! It has been a year since this post!
Unbelievable. Time seriously just flew when you hit your 21.

So yes, in less than 3 weeks it would be my birthday and like I shared last year, I view birthdays of rather important dates but never have an elaborate celebrations.

Last year visited Bali and this year, visiting Taipei! Again, with the love of my life. :D :D :D
I can't seriously wait. Just 6 more days!

So anyhows, since I have been doing it for the past 3 years, I might as well continue the "practice". To be honest, I thought no one would take notice but dearest Glenn did request. =P

Do you know he is one of the world best people? And I have him as my good pal.
Someone up there must have love me alot.

Thank you very much for letting me have Glenn in my life.

To be honest, it did take me a while to compile this list for to be honest, in terms of items tangible-wise, I can give my pitiful look to Nick or I can save up for it to obtain it.

Movie Week!

Last week was definitely a movie week for me.
Caught 3 movies within 5 days!

On the same note, I feel damn shiok if I am able to watch movie at a cheaper price than normal; like over weekend is S$10 but with SAFRA or UOB card, it is only at S$8. I would feeeeel damn happy.
Anyone have the same thoughts / feelings as me?

Thor was bit disappointing. :(

They mixed in too much of a love story within a supposedly action packed.

And the lead character looked so much like Brad Pitt! And when he walked out half naked, I could hear the cinema girls sighs. Seriously! Haha and yes I have contributed to the sigh.

I know I truly love him when I saw him in this movie being so tak-glam, I am still very much in love.

This show was rather good in my opinon. Thankfully I knew bit of Chinese history to understand truly!

The female character - Mia looked so different from the 2009 version! But I did google and yes it is the same person.

This version has less driving and in time line of Fast & Furious show, it is before Tokoyo Drift.
(Don't know if I shared before but I am someone who likes logic and consistency. So the FF shows so far, rather consistent and logical.)

It does not have as much driving as the other shows but still, typically theres explosion and hot babes.

Looks like there are several good upcoming shows! Like Kung-Fu Panda (although I am no big fan of it), Puss in Boots, Pirates of the Carribbean and all but there's just 1 show that I am eagerly looking forward to it.

Woohooo! I can't wait! 2nd June!!!

I have always been on the lookout for a Nissan GTR's die cast for Nick. Karl, my Shatec friend, was ordering from his trusty supplier so he contacted me and then I purchased a bloody expensive die cast in his order.

Limited edition in gun metal grey. I wished it was in white though!

But I do admit, the parts were all pretty nicely done up. Even the cushion within the seats felt good.

Downloaded Reader Digest jokes app on itouch. Had a good laugh for 2 days before I finished reading it. :(

Went to NSP rally in Aljunie few days back. My area contestants - PAP and NSP. To make a more informed decision, I decided to attend the rally.

First time to a rally! Is it just me or rally are full of anger?

So then Royal Wedding took place the day before yesterday. Raodah did live streaming on her computer and this is when all the girls crowding around to watch. Although to be honest, they are looking out more for Kate Middletown's gown.

So the inexperienced (haha) asked, "how do you know"?
And though she claimed its an convenient answer, I must claimed credit that the wise sayings came from lao niang - ME.

The thing about life or relationship is that it is always a constant learning journey.
You always thought this is it, you knew this would be how it is and this should be how it is. Yet when you are going through it, you would then realised a lot of understanding, a lot of concepts are suddenly not that applicable anymore.

I supposed that is why life is a struggle for some and yet some lived their life like a rock and roll song.
Struggle because one don't know what to expect. Struggle because of the uncertainty. Struggle because one don't understand "why me?"

Its never you. Don't take it personally. This is life.

And some lived it like a rock and roll song. They rocked and rolled with the ups and downs of life. They may or may not questioned. But no answers required. All they need are the right music, the right moves and they moved along in life.

So long in life, they have got the right music and right moves = "ingredients" ie love, satisfaction etc, they moved along in life.

Thats why in life or in relationship, you take the leap of faith. Its literally a leap of faith.
The leap as you never know what is happening next.

Someone at 24 years old speaks about national issue. And a 24 years old like me? Always finding questions, always finding answers about life.

How Perfectionism Hurts

Here are four reasons why you should strive for less than perfection in your career:

Perfection seldom exists.

We're all human. And life as a human is often messy, imperfect, and incomplete. For the most part, perfection doesn't exist. There's always something you could have done better. You can always find flaws in your performance and ways you could have improved your results.

While working with a client who was an extreme perfectionist, I asked, "Do you know what I think your definition of perfection is? What you do, plus one." He laughed and agreed. The point was that there is always a buffer between whatever he did and what would have been good enough.

Do you really want to waste your time and energy chasing after something that doesn't exist?

Perfection limits what you can accomplish.

Let's say, just for the sake of discussion, that perfection is possible in some cases. Odds are good it's still not in your best interest to focus on attaining it. Why? Because that perfection comes at a cost. The time and energy it takes to get from "good enough" to perfect could be spent on other things. So while perfection sounds appealing in theory, from a practical perspective, it actually limits what you can accomplish.

Expecting perfection sets you up to feel like a failure.

Expecting perfection can also be brutal on your psyche. Not only do you waste your time and energy, but when you inevitably fall short (remember that whole pesky business of being human?), it reinforces negative feelings about yourself. If the only picture of success you have is perfection, then you are on a collision course with failure, whatever you do. And when all you experience is perceived failure, guess how that's going to make you feel?

Expecting perfection limits what you're willing to try.

Not only can that expectation of perfection batter your self-confidence, it also limits what you're willing to try. When you repeatedly experience the feeling of failure or the stomach-knotting stress of white-knuckling your way to perfection, you start to look at the big stretch goals and say, "What, are you stupid? I'm not going there!"

Stretching yourself is a recipe for imperfection. Mistakes and failure are an inevitable part of growing into something bigger. And the more painful that imperfection is for you, the less likely you will be to attempt anything where success (that is, 100 percent perfection) can't be reasonably expected.

At the same time, remember that perfection is seldom a realistic goal, and that it often gets in the way of achieving the big picture. Figure out what "good enough" is, and be happy with that. Let go of the unnecessary and unproductive pressure of perfectionism and see what potential opens up.

Really quite a marvellous thing.

It brings you back to the past - to the past when you first heard the song. To the past when you first danced to the song. To the past when you first sang to the song.

To the past when you heard it with someone.

It brings you hope - hope that such magical melody exist. Hope that someone feels the same.

Hope that one day you would be able to feel the same way of the song.

It makes you feel, it makes you wonder - wonder whats the story behind the song. Wonder if one day you would possibly faced that too. Wonder that if you one day could compose such a music piece.

Things that Makes Me Happy 8

I have this a lill "notebook" (a microsoft document really) that I write down 2 things; 1 is the things that Nick has done that makes me happy / feeling loved and 2. things he said or my thoughts for that moment.

Ever since my com broke down and the change of computer, I haven't really been accessing.
So was doing an update and re-opened it and am flooded with emotions (in a good way).

This made me teared. He said "I want my son to be a pilot as he will have my perfect eye sight and my daughter to be like a lawyer as he can talk as well as her mother."

And 1 more " Of all the girls in class, I only have eyes for you."

Cheesy like fuck but he really did say such things!

And one of the things I wrote that makes me believed that come what may, I have believed and trusted in him.

"Sometimes I still chuckled at the differences between us. I am so flamboyant yet he is a reserve. I am affectionate but he is someone who don’t express much of his affectionate. I live for the moment but he plans for the future. But I supposed there’s one thing in common and that will keep us together for a long time is for the love I have for him and the love he has for me. Not that I am saying the differences between us would tear us apart but rather, the love would keep us together despite the times we fought due to our differences.

I love weddings!

Its an important event that celebrates 2 individual coming together to celebrate a unity.

Seems like in 2010, I saw many pair individuals becoming 1. :)

Don't know about you guys but I have plenty of problems when it comes to wedding.

I fret about how much to give in an ang pow, what to wear (I always think Singaporeans tend to under-dress but God forbid me to be over-dress than the bride!) , how to go there, how to return home and how to plan my timing such that I have enough time to go home and dressed for the wedding.

I have collated a list of weddings I attended in 2010 for the fun of it and also, to look back and see the different dresses I wore for your reference.

Family weddings are the best!

As we were attending a church wedding, there's no other dresses I thought would suit than a simple white dress.

This is also the 1 part of the 2 weddings of which the 2nd wedding dinner was held in HK.

Hi man-of-my-life!

For the wedding dinner night, my aunt has told us to dress up. So we did! Or looks like I was the one who made more ... effort in dressing up.
I did up my hair in another salon (thank God) and went out to buy dress and also the right lingerie for it.

With my cousins that is around my age and the pink dull dress one is my cousin whose brother is getting married.

Holiday Inn Atrium

If I can say, don't ever host your wedding dinner there! There are pillars (big NO-NO) and that the food sucks. So bad so bad. And from there I learnt food plays a part as well.

It was a working day so I went after my work in office thus no special dress for it. And seriously if its Holiday Inn Atrium no need lah!

Joan had really pretty gowns that night. Not the usual red or pink but hers was yellow and complimented her fair skin well.

Oh wow, 7 weddings in 2010!
I can forsee 3 more weddings for 2011; of which none are mine thank you very much.

Graduation 2010

I graduated (officially) in Oct last year!

WOOOHOOO!

For the record:
Course - Bachelor of Commerce; majoring in Marketing & Tourism
School - Murdoch Uni. School that is in Perth Western Australia but APMI Kaplan brought in.
Overall school fees- S$22k. I failed one subject / module so had to re-take. Cost additional S$1500. Of all modules I failed, I failed HR. HR also can fail don't play play.
Total duration taken - 21 months. It would have been 18 months but because I failed HR, I had to extend another 3 more months. 18 months is provided you take on 3 subjects / modules per semester. 1 semester = 3 months.

To be honest, I did not enjoy my uni days as much as I did in my Diploma days. I guess during uni, it wasn't very focused on tourism and as I took on part time studies, going to school after work can be rather ... tiring.

Thankfully, as my course is part time course so all of my classmates were working and they do act like responsible adults. No free-rider although there was one guy who tried his luck but got booted out of our team in less than 1 month. Of course lah, we only got 2 months to do up a project leh! Chu pattern already cannot give chance. Don't waste time.

It is also through this school, I met Nick. :)

So I always tell people ... the best thing I bring back from my uni school days is not my degree but Nick! Heehee.

One of our trainer / lecturer whom we were pretty chummy with had this birthday on the day he was teaching us. So the class got him cake.

The classes were mainly in Cuppage which was really convenient. Our classes would be from 7pm to 10pm but usually there is a break at 8.30pm where we would head out to either Centrepoint or just the Cuppage Plaza to grab food of sort.

Or guys would go down smoke. Like Nick used to!

Then the school shifted some classes to Wilkie Edge and I remembered there isn't very good reception so half the time I was un-contactable.

Fast forward to last Oct, we had our convocation in Raffles Convention Centre.

My father held onto the camera first. He tried his best I know. Hahahahaha

Something Blog-Worthy About

And that is .... I failed my TP!! (Driving Practical Test!)

Its not due to I mount kerb or I have points deducted here and there. It was an immediate failure as I got into an accident. Minor one but an accident no less. Of which I would be honest that it is my fault completely.

I wanted to overtake one car and was too engrossed on the right hand side of the traffic I neglected the left hand side, as a result I scrapped against the van. Then I had to drive back to the school and received quite a earful from my instructor.

The van driver actually followed me back and he just followed me back to tell me everythings all right on his side. And he wishes me all the best for my next exam!

Such kind person. Thank you Jordan! A Filipino.

Of course my instructor was nagging at me non-stop lah then across the street he shouted "wheres the guy you langa?" Wah piang eh, the way he shout across now half the school people know I kenna accident! And not I langa people ok, I langa car nia!

Then he was going on and on about damages and that as it is my fault I need to compensate.
Fair enough and he was going on and on I had to tell him "人没事就好".

:(

One ugly incident is that when I was out with the tester on the lookout for Jordan, this random guy came up to us and said he's here and his car park damn far away.

Then before I could acknowledged him the tester said "not him, don't answer." It then dawned on me that this man was trying to find someone to pay for his car damage!

ANY RANDOM CARELESS DRIVER (like ah-hem, yours truly) who looked like they are looking out for the poor driver that kenna langa, he will try his luck and who knows he can get his car repairs covered.

WHAT AN ARSE.
So could wanted to tell him off but he walked away.

Emotional (but in a good way) Week

I had a relatively emotional (but in a good way - humbling sort of way week).

Earlier this week, friend of mine is in town so after we were done hanging out in Bugis Street, Nick and I walked her back to her hotel at Park Royal on Beach Road.

As I walked back, I recalled the last time my stint there during IMF. One of those days knowing how bored I am, Justin came by. He walked from Bugis MRT station to Royal Park Hotel and spent an afternoon with me. Eating and catching up.

When I was in Shatec, Justin was someone I am so attached to. He was there for me regardless of what. He make me laughed. He annoys me. He makes me thankful for life. He was sucha good good man.

I don't know how to put into an entry of the things he do for me. All for 1 word - friendship.

Now, with each of our own lifestyle, Justin and I had drifted and we aren't meeting up and catching up as regularly. I know he's doing well only through facebook.

It was rather emotional for me for that walk back to the hotel.

Another incident that left me emotionally humbled was a dinner with my mother.
Cutting the story short, the dinner was (sort of) first time I have a proper sit down dinner without the rest of my family members.

And there I see my mother, in her annoying habits, actually is a woman that is rather easily contented. She laughed at herself and laughed at lill things.

I treat others with respect and tolerant. I seem to treat my mother with lesser of that.

Then today Nick and I watched 大世界。

As there were several parts that were relatively slow, I looked over and see Nick.

There's this bubbling joy within me I once blogged about (can't locate the blog entry).
To lie on his shoulder when I am watching the movie, to feel blessed about life and seeing him makes it all the more complete.

And this week, have been an emotional but humbling week for me.

He replied "I would find ways to find the money."

The whole point is not about finding the money for me but whether in times of monetary need if he could support me. Before I could phase my question proper, he then said the one liner that I knew he's the one.

"Whatever you want to do, I will support u so u can do whatever you want to do with no worries (monetary-wise)".

How to Work with a Bad Boss

At some point in our careers, we all face having to work for a bad boss.

Unfortunately, just because we think they're bad doesn't mean everyone else does. No matter how much they frustrate us, bad bosses don't always get called out and replacing them can be difficult. That means it's important to learn how to work for them.

Here are six types of bad bosses and tips for working with them:

The Unorganized Boss: This boss can't keep data and information flow straight, much less organize the people who come up with that data. This means you'll have to manage the flow--or at least the part of the flow that applies to you. Consider keeping e-mail strings, documenting notes from meetings, and being ready to take on extra administration responsibilities to help things move smoothly.

The Lying Boss: We assume leaders are honest by virtue of their role, but this isn't always true. A lying boss is frustrating and may put you in an awkward position. Always take the high road, reminding him what he said in previous conversations. For difficult situations, bring a colleague to the meeting so you aren't the only one hearing and substantiating what's said.

The Career-Ambitious Boss: Ambition isn't usually a negative, but it can go sour if your boss ends up taking all the credit when things are go well and pointing fingers when they don't. The best news if you work for this type of person is they won't be around long. If they're successful, they'll quickly move up and on. If they aren't, they'll go someplace else. In the meantime, the better you can make this boss look, the happier she'll be. And who knows, you might be a beneficiary of her promotion.

The Always-Late Boss: This boss is never on time for meetings, which wastes your time and can even make you look bad. This isn't likely to change, so learn to cope by setting work aside or bringing it with you so you'll always have something productive to do while you're waiting. If your boss is late for meetings with others, go ahead and have a mini-meeting before your boss arrives and try to cover the agenda items your boss doesn't need to be there for anyway.

The No-Bad-News Boss: On the surface, having a boss who's always positive looks like a good thing, but you need the bad news with the good if you want to improve. Plus, if you don't get any of the bad news, you can't put in context what is good. With this boss, it's important to ask them to share both good and bad news, and make those situations comfortable for them. Be sure to ask how you can improve and better support the business.

Features I Appreciate in a Hotel Room

Thought of sharing what are some of the features I appreciate in a hotel room.

These were all taken in Gran Melia, Shanghai.
Although the location of hotel is not in the middle of shopping district (more of like ... within Shanghai CBD area), I love it for the fact that it is located to my all time favourite chain of restaurant in Shanghai and that it has all the features I learn to appreciate or appreciated!

1. Ipod Dock

I never placed this as an importance till I stayed in this hotel. It is reallly very enjoyable to unwind down to music you are familiar and could sing out loud with.

2. Wardrobe with sufficient hangers

When I stay in hotels, I generally would hang up all my clothes (unless I am only there for a day or 2) and each time, the hotels don't provide enough hangers. :(

3. Ironing board

Must have in my hotel room! After I packed all my clothes in my luggage and hanging them up, they are usually in a terrible wrinkled state. So I do need ironing board (and iron of course) in my room. Best if it is already kept inside the wardrobe and I don't have to call the housekeeper to send em up.

4. Thermal heated floorings

Oh my. This is definitely one win above all other hotels!!
When its cold and chilly and you wake up in the middle of the night to go to the washroom, there is a piercing cold when your feet touches the floor that hits your nerves and jolts you awake, thermal heated floorings become 2nd best invention for us (many said, the best invention is air-conditioning).

5. Large surface area

I dont think I am considered a messy person (although many others may disagree with my opinion) but I appreciate having a large surface area for me to place all my stuffs that I can grab and go in the morning, and when I returned in the evening, I can just leave it there all within eye sights.

Remembering His Good

I will, I must and I would remember Nick's good always.

Few days ago, a pair of Aldo shoes caught my eye. He said it easily, "I buy for you since you rarely see any shoes you fancy."

And he kept true to his words. Today after work he waited for me when he was done at 6 odd till I reached at 7.40pm. Instead of being all annoyed, he brought me into Aldo and said "have fun". Hahaha.

Aldo doesn't have the shoe I wanted and so he asked, "where did you last see it?" I replied, "At PS" so we took a train down to PS.

In Aldo PS, unfortunately they don't have my size boohoohoo! Then I recalled a saw another pair of shoe I caught a fancy to in Charles and Keith. He also went up with me and allow me to check it out.

Pity oh pity! The sizes in PS Charles & Keith is not my size! So the lady then go the extra mile and wrote down the shops that carries my size.

And the nearest one? In Citylink Mall.

Guess what did the good boyfriend did? "Lets go Citylink Mall since its only a stop away".

Then along the way, I was fretting about which pair of shoes should I get?? The Charles & Keith one or the Aldo shoe?

Guess what the sweetheart asked? "How much is the black pair and how much is the Aldo pair?" With it being about 100odd, he said "I get for you both?"

Of which, he did walk through the lengths of Citylink Mall and Raffles City to check out both shoes!!!!

And all of these without dinner and a full day of work for him.

This episode is not just it. Today as we were walking back in the rain sharing my suitable-for-one-person-use-umbrella, he sheltered me completely (even my bag) and had his side drenched when he could easily just positioned the umbrella in the middle and have both of our side sides drenched.

I found a treasure. Yes I did.
For all the bad he did, his patience, his generosity and his love for me today has covered has made me believed that he is made of gold after all.

Whats In My Bring Onboard Travel Bag

Rather than doing the "whats-in-my-bag" entry, I decided to do a "Whats-In-My-Bring-Onboard Travel-Bag" version!

A number of stuffs apparantely!

1. Passport
The standard - passport. I received this Agnes B long passport wallet from Gek, Sher and Glenn for this year birthday. Loving it tonnes!

It is ideal as I can keep my boarding pass, my folded A4 hotel booking form, a photo of my colleagues, a pen(pens are often neglected) and my drug allergies card.

2. Travel Wallet
The standard - wallet. This is from F21, bought couple of months back ago at only 11bucks!

I have always believed in a specific long flat travel wallet for 1. theres no possibility of losing my usual wallet as I don't use it. My discounts card to be used in Singapore is safe. 2. I used to have a problem when I was using a purse - that is I am unable to identify the denomination notes of my foreign currency. So with a long wallet, I am able to pick up the right amount.

Importantly, this wallet works out for me fine is because it has 2 bill compartments (for SG money and my foreign currency), 1 coin zipper and since I would not be having as much cards, I only need the minimum card slots.

And the material is easily felt when I am digging through my bag for my wallet when I need to pay up.

Most pleased with this wallet!

3. The toiletries in a cutesy zip bag (so much more appealing than ziplock bags)
If going to nearby distance ie Bangkok with only 2 hours of flight, I would not have such toiletries lah. But I pack this along when I have my red eye flight (midnight flight) and / or long hours flight like my recent trip to Barcelona.

Whats in it?

Top right to left:
Hand cream (need intensive one!). Clarins one stop cleanser - this cleanser need not to be wash off so I can conveniently used a cotton pad to dab on to clean my face then apply my mask (if required) or just cleaning my face.

Bottom right to left:
Powder. Evian face mist - I highly recommend this especially if you have got dry skin like me. It keeps me feeling fresh and hydrated (but of course whether it works or not its a different thing lah). Dettol hand sanitizer - I am usually not anal about like dirtiness but I reckon the insides of an air craft is damnnnnnnn dirty. So before I eat my meals, clean my hands apply face mask etc, I would used it.

I didn't include in 3 more items - pad, face mask and cotton wool. For mask- only for long hours flight then I would put on lah. To hydrate my pooooor face. For cotton wool is to be used with my Clarins cleanser. For my pad - I suspected I might be coming my period thus, I bring it along just in case.

4. The usual hairbrush etc

The quantity is subject to my nose condition. Hur hur hur.

Being Thrown Off Balance

I dont know what others think but I certainly don't think I am that uptight or anal or just having plain OCD.

But the thing is, it does ~~gets on my nerves~~ throws me off balance when I planned something in order and it doesnt fulfill getting in that order.

Here are my to-dos in this order for tonight:

1. Prepare for work
2. Shower
3. Do some card scanning at home to save time at work for that tomorrow
4. Blog
5. Read
6. Sleep

And now because my brother is in the washroom, I am unable to shower thus unable to continue with Step 2 onwards.

And such, I blogged now.
And step 4 became step 2.

This is realllly ~~getting on my nerves~~ throwing me off balance.

I sure know I am not OCD / anal / uptight.

I just like things in that order I planned.

My Art & Craft "Adventure"

For those who know me will know that there are many things I can't do. Apart from meddling with gadget, I can't cook, can't sew and I can't do art & craft. I just ... don't have the creative flair within me, which is quite a pity!!! If I am creative enough, I could have done so much more for my job and my personal life. But like Gek said, one can't have it all.

Still, early this month I decided to give it a try.

I decided to do up a t-shirt that says "my birthday!" sorta idea for Winnie as her birthday was on Deepavali and we are going to Universal Studios Singapore the day after!

Here's my step by step guidelines (HAHAHA, feel so shiok machiam I am an expert):

1. Go to Spotlight
I had an idea what I want but I wasn't sure exactly how to go about doing it. So I went Spotlight to ignite some idea.

And I did have some inspirations from there! I wanted a white T-shirt imprinted with texts like "Birthday Girl", "Respect Me".
There were fabric pants so I checked it out. They cost about S$15 per bottle and since I didn't just want black for the text, this means I have to buy several colours. It certainly didn't make sense for me to buy 3 bottles and would not be using them much there after.

So I decided on felt material and thought I could cut 'em and stick 'em onto the t-shirt! They were relatively cheap too! About 99cents per 1 A4 size.

Then the dilemma came - should I get those adhesive back kinda felt or should I get those glue instead?

I decided to go with glue as I thought I could get those multi-purpose glue so in time to come for Christmas, I could explore handmaking some gift items for friends. (YEAHH RIGHTTT)

2. Select colours and the quantity for felt
Like everyone knows, I have got no creative flair. I was stuck at selecting colours. There were plenty of colours available but I can't say for sure how to mix and match!

Then I remembered 1 basic rule I discovered myself - select one main colour and work with the different shades / tones.

Since Winnie isn't much a girly girl, I opted for blue and thus, selected dark blue, normal blue and light blue.

That would be the front part since that part would be the most eye-catching part and for the back of the t-shirt, I decided to just stick with one colour.

Then the quantity to get was another dilemma for me. I don't wanna get too much (never like wastage) yet if I get insufficient quantity, I would be soooo frustrated.

I came up with this "way" to calculate my needs - I gave a rough estimation as to how big my words are gonna big and since one colour to each word ie dark blue for happy, light blue for birthday etc, I could judge then how many pieces of felt I need for each colour.

Step 3: Prepare template
I actually hand drew with ruler on a piece of paper for all the alphabets I need. It sets as a template.

By then, I have already decided my words:

Front - Its My Birthday
Back - Birthday Girl

I knew for sure I can't draw freehand, thus I used ruler and measure each alphabet stroke in 8cm. Then I cut em out using pen knife and scissors. Pen knife for the fixed line alphabets and scissors for the circular shaped alphabets like S, A etc.

I realised that the words of:

Front - Its My Birthday
Back - Birthday Girl

has some repeated letters so I need not cut prepare all of those alphabets!

Step 4: Lay the Template to the felt

Although I had my way to calculate the felt quantity I need, I still lay em out to ensure I do not overshot it.

Step 5: Cut the felt with the template on it

To ensure the alphabet is "fixed" onto the felt in order for the alphabet not to run out of shape, I stapled it. If you uses tape to make 'em stick on, the felt would have a part that would be fuzzier.

Step 6: Glue the felt on

Stick it on!

In the middle of Step 3 when I am preparing the template, this didn't seem as easy or as fun as it I first thought it would be.

Furthermore, coming to step 4 my sinus acted up. I am bloody allergic to felt material!!!!!!

No joke man.

But when I see the end result, I felt clearly satisfied. And I felt accomplished.

And I felt hope for life.

And when I see Winnie putting on, I was rather proud of myself. :D

Well, if Tan Wei Ching can do it, I am sure you can do it too. :D

Since I am waiting for my laundry to be done, I thought of sharing my Sat Date! Or rather more of my Saturday dinner.

Went out with Nick on a planned date as its been a quite a while we pah-toh, enjoyed each other company and squeezed with the crowd in town!

He decided to treat him and myself better by going for a dinner buffet of international spread. The night before, I asked and he researched then we shortlisted a few and finally settled on Straits Cafe @ Rendezvous Hotel.

The spread isn't as much as The Line @ Shang (but thats of course! The Line cost about S$80 per head so its better be more variety!) but still, the spread was worth what we paid for.

Total bill came up to S$111 so per head was S$55.

They had the usuals like prawns, crabs, cooked food, dessert etc. But whats worth mentioning is the kebab they had and the laksa which was award-winning.

Oh and one thing I really like? They have coffee and tea. :D Self-service but at least, it gives Nick and I reason to sit down and chit chat while enjoying our tea and our fruits and desserts. Something really cheap and low cost yet I felt it does make a difference to our experience.

I personally like it a lot because the food is tasty, a relatively good spread for the price we paid, comfortable and importantly, we don't face the usual Saturday crowd in town.

But I think the above statement was made with so much of a bias point of view because I feel that sometimes a food in a restaurant may not necessary be as good as it tasted but due to the positive association, I would think the restaurant is good.

So because my company for dinner was Nick hence I would feel my experience is plus 20 points!
Hahahaha.

They have rojak too! But you gotta self- make them. The you-tiao and the black sauce isn't as good as those you get from coffee shop though.

Although now they don't do it anymore (sending me off and awaiting my return) due to work commitments, it is still one of my happy things in life.

Hong Kong + Macau Trip Part 2

Here's part 1 if you would like re-read or that you missed it.

In the morning of Day 2, the few of us who were staying in the same hotel headed out for dim sum breakfast recommended by my aunt.

We took a train.

To this restaurant.

When we walked to our table, we didn't see any other tourist except us.

You know what they say. If its patronised by the locals and locals only, it can only mean the food is good.
(True! I don't see any tourists around the hawker centre behind my house!)

Very 典型 (classic) HK's dim sum restaurant! The locals there are really ... reading newspaper and sipping their tea. Like those I watched on TV kind.

So we placed our orders and while waiting for food to come, what do we do?

Oh my. After this meal, I never wanted to taste SG's dim sum again.

All FAIL.

You know those ha-kow we have in SG right - although theres prawn but its very miniature size of prawn.

There? The ka-kow has a total of 3 solid prawns. Solid solid prawns.

And the congee. Oh my.
I never like those dimsum congee. For my kind of porridge, I prefer teo-chew mui type.

But this congee. Oh my.

Oh my.
Oh my.

No words to describe the goodness of it.

Tasty and smooth.
I might like to include it in the future for either my wedding dinner or my last meal.

So after the heavy breakfast, we split ways.
My parents visited this temple, my brother and his girlfriend went out and the rest of us went shopping (again for the 185486123 times).

Best they don't have also lah. Otherwise every month, I would be as poor as a pauper.

Shopped all afternoon then went back around 5 odd to prepare for the wedding dinner in Intercontinental Hotel (the hotel that we did our tour the night before).

If I think the Capella wedding must have cost a bomb, this HK wedding must have cost a nation.

The walkway was adorned with fresh flowers.

FRESH FLOWERS. I know for sure because I smelled and touched it.

And first time ever, I saw a live performance.

But quite poor thing. The waiting / holding area was too big and the melody of it was drowned away by the chatters.

The waiting / holding area was biggg man. So big they would afford to put an area for photo-taking.

And mind you, the photo-taking was not those backdrop kinda size.
Its a completely done-up area.

But wells, this photo don't show the size of it all! Just know that its a generous area specifically photo-taking and even with that, the holding / waiting area has sofas and space for guests to mingle.

So what do we do? Be prepared.

Although I have named the above shots like my relatives aint close, it isn't true. Just for convenience sake and thought then you guys would know in what relation I am to them. :)

So we stepped into the ballroom and took our seating.

The table setting was elaborately done. The centre-piece was hugeee. Too huge actually, I think it blocked views of many guests to the stage.

The food, like Capella, was individually plattered.

Check out the 12 courses meal.

And every, EVERY course had some expensive ingredient.
Foie gras, shark fin, abalone, scallop, crab, fish...
But it was just too much after like the 9th course lah.

So rich I was so worried I might have to go to hospital when I returned Singapore.

The dinner ended about 11odd (started around 8odd) and we headed back for Macau next day!

By the way, in case you are wondering how HK wedding is like- it is very much SG styled. Video showing, walk-in and such.
Just no yum-seng.

So the next day, we got up earlyy and met up at this ferry terminal that houses some factory outlet as well.

To Macau we go!

Walking to the ferry. Like going to Bintan, you need to walk a distance before boarding the ferry.

I suggest if you are doing a day trip or a short trip to Macau then returning to HK again, leave your trolley luggage in the hotel you are staying at and bring along a haversack!

To walk to the ferry is not a straight road distance, you had to go through escalator that does not work and at some point, there were barricades you need to either force you luggage through it or just carry over the barricade.

Doesn't make sense but thats what we faced.

After an hour ferry ride (not too chompy), we arrived in Macau!

Upon arrival in the ferry terminal of Macau, we did our immigration check (which seriously needs an improvement) and took the shuttle bus. For what I see, all the hotels in Macau has the shuttle service.

We checked into Venetian and hurriedly put our things down to catch a cab to the famous square.

Eh, erm ah. Nothing much one leh the square.

So we walked to this restaurant that my aunt recommended for lunch.

Macau, from what I understand from my uncles, is that it is consisted of 3 main island that are connected by bridge. Venetian is located at one far end of the bridge and the famous square is located in the middle.

Each hotel has its own casino. And each entrance is elaborately done up to attract gamblers.

The residents stayed around the famous square. And the housing seems ... run down. Unlike SG flats so well built, theirs seems a lill run down.

The square is like the town area. Unfortunately, shophouses converted to shopping shops that we can find in HK.

The feel of Macau seems ... forgotten.

But look! There is still one shop that seems to exist back from those days. :D

We walked around for a bit before going back to Venetian for dinner and to walk Venetian itself.

Venetian is biggg and grand.

But so far, the grandest hotel I have been to would be The Empire Hotel & Resorts in Brunei.

Although that hotel does not have shopping streets within the hotel or even a food court, the rooms are buildings with roads in between.
And the toilets of each room is coated in real gold.

That one is really grand and opulent. But both hotels are just as comfortable. :D

Venetian ~~room~~ suite.

Venetian has no rooms, they are suites and the one we stayed in was supposedly the smallest of it all.

Not sure if you could see it clearly but basically there are 2 areas - one for the bed and another for like living / working area. 2 sets of TV, you have printed within it as well.

Big. Big Big.

So after the tour in Venetian, we went back to our room and rested for the night. Headed out the next day for HK airport to catch an airplane back to SG and that I have spent my 4D3N holiday with my family.

A very short trip! I felt that I have not fully see Macau / HK yet. But there's always the next time lah. :D

Hong Kong + Macau Trip Part 1

Went Hong Kong in 1st week of Aug for my cousin's wedding.
He married a Hong Kong-er and after a wedding in Singapore (in Capella no less), another wedding dinner was held in HK and the whole Chen / Tan clan flew over!

To be honest, I was a lill reluctant. Work was piling up and the thought of travelling with my mother just very much turns me off but I am glad I did make it for the trip after all. It was sucha good time spent with the rest of my family (and re-discovering HK), I wouldn't have miss it for anything in the world. :)

Getting ready to depart.

Many people waiting to board. Flight was full. :(

After several hours of flight (can you really remember how long you took the flight for? I honestly can't), we landed in HK airport!

And took their sky-train-HK-version to pass immigration and collect our baggage. But why can't they have 1 immigration point and 1 baggage claim per "terminal"?

Quite a hassle to walk the distance and halfway through, we were confused and were lost.

My auntie (eldest uncle's wife), my mother and my auntie (3rd uncle's wife) - The Daughter-in-Laws of the Chen / Tan family.

We boarded a shuttle bus and took a relatively looonngg bus ride to our hotel.
Weather was good and sunny!

Apparently in Aug, it was summer season.

We checked into our hotel and headed out for lunch.

For those who are interested, my family and I stayed in Kimberley Hotel. The location is excellent - in the heart of the shopping district of HK and a 10 minutes walk to the train station however, the hotel is relatively old and a lill run down.

Ok lah, don't mind going back again coz the location is realllly good! Can't say I paid how much because my brother arranged it together with the tickets as well so .... sorry!

After the lunch, we walked / shopped around for a bit.

Streets of Hong Kong.

Hong Kong have a wide variety of shops and the price range varies too. Unfortunately, HK clothes aren't really my style and I didn't buy much from that shopping trip.

But for those I bought, it was veryyyy worth it. :D
Like less than S$10 for basic tops and around S$25 for pair of wedges and heels each.

I must add in this experience I had with the HK sales staff. I went into a shop looking out for a bag and something did catch my eye. I stopped to look and they saleslady attended to me.

It was only my first day there and I wasn't sure if I was ready to pay close to S$60 for a bag so I contemplated. She became more pushy. Lowering the price to close to S$50 and kept telling me that it is pretty and nice lah and all that bull.

My cousin called so I said I would come back (I really would!) then shes like saying this in Chinese, "today business not good. You buy now I give you discount" and she quoted me S$40.

WHATTTT!!

At that point already, I was already distracted wanting to meet my cousin and her push-iness really turns me off man.

BUT I REALLY LIKE THAT BAG!!

Damn it, then I saw a similar one in Far East Plaza but it was going at S$90 lor.
KNS STUPID SALES WOMAN IN HK. If not for her push-iness, I would have return to her shop and buy from her!!
Well, my cousins did say just ignore her and get the bag since I was thinking about it for daySs but I so don't want to give her the sense of satisfaction.

So there.

And I am feeling bitter about it. PUII.

So never mind that above incident.

After walking round for a bit, got tired and decided to order bubble tea!

Heaven comes cheap there and then.

After the shopping for like 2 hours, we headed back to the hotel to changed to something more comfortable before meeting my remaining family staying in different hotel.

We went to a Chinese restaurant within the other hotel itself (IHG) and the restaurant apparently had a dress code. -__-
And the dinner don't come in cheap.

While waiting for the restaurant to get ready the room, we stepped out to watch the Symphony of Lights. But wells, we stood out of the boundary so the experience was compromised. :(

After the dinner, we had one of the best times!

A whole lot of 16-20 of us went into the different rooms that some of my aunt & uncles are staying at and my god, those who stayed in Kimberly eyes went green with envy!

Spacious room with big windows. Big toilets with 2 sinks. SIGHS.

It was really funny because my whole family, to begin with, are a comical funny bunch of people.
So there were jokes coming off from the various "seniors" which still makes me chuckled now. Heehee.

Definitely, must have a family picture!!! See how happy we were all smiling to the camera. We had tonnes of fun before that ha.

Shall break here for now and will continue with the next day of my HK trip another time!

He's in Taiwan now with his F3 friends for 4 days since Wednesday. Tomorrow midnight he would return and I specially took leave on Monday so we could "catch up" / "hang out".

Did a Swim with the Dolphin program in Dolphin Lagoon last year in July thanks to Gek and Nick!

If you recall, last year July was a planned trip to Bali but I didn't go because my parents were paranoid after the Jakarta bombings. :(

So Gek knowing that I was terribly disappointed arranged for a Swim with Dolphin program for me in Dolphin Lagoon. And I only knew it like the day before when Nick shared so it was really a surprise!

Thanks to Nick for he brought me there and paid for the program. :)
But I recalled we had a tiff that day so ... I didn't enjoy it completely. BOOO. Stupid bf.

Dolphins are my favourite animals! Definitely if future I get to travel to places where dolphins watching are available, I must and I will do so!

It was an hour program that allows close interaction with our very own pink dolphins.

The ironical thing is ... I worked in Dolphin Lagoon 2 years ago before! And was one of the staff that assisted in the program.

Heh heh and now I am being assisted.

Nick stayed on shore when I was in the water so he couldn't help me take photos. I then passed the camera to the Guest Services Officer but not much photos were taken. :(

Here's what were taken and good enough to share!

The trainer introduced the dolphin to us:

We had Han for that day but was switched to Euang and finally met Jumbo.

FYI - the last time I worked there there were 6 dolphins altogether:

1. Jumbo (male; the oldest and most patient one also a father of Splash)

2. Pet (male; got character kind)

3. Pann - (female; She is in her pen all the time and rarely performed. We hardly get to see her too as GRO).

4. Han (male; young and usually 1 of the 2 that performs during the show times)

5. Euang (female; young and is the other 1 of the 2 that performs during the show times)

6. Splash (male; when I was there he was new-born! In fact I remembered on my last day, I had a kiss from him as he just mastered it)

During the program, we get to feed, touch and learn about pink dolphins like why they grey instead of pink etc

And to show how strong they are, we were towed for a short distance by holding onto their dorsal fin!

This is when they were teaching us some hang signals to have Jumbo whistling or responding to us:

I also had a painting did by Jumbo. We held up a board and Jumbo using his mouth would draw across the board.

Been meaning to frame it up. Anyone knows what to do to prevent the paper from turning yellow after many years? Been wanting to frame it up but thinking if I were to frame up just like that, it might turn yellow after a few years :(

When pink dolphins are first born, they are grey in colour. As they mature, they turned pink.

I remembered Jumbo as the most patient dolphin in DL. After each show, we would have a Meet-the-Dolphin session whereby visitors can enter the water till knee length and to touch and have a photo taken with the pink dolphin.

Pet sometimes gets bit edgy but Jumbo just sits throughout the session without a fuss.

So after an hour, the session stopped and we were waving good bye to Jumbo!

If you ask of my honest opinion? This program felt a bit too short and not enough interaction with the pink dolphins.

Still, good to drop by DL for visit to learn moreee about pink dolphins. :D

Bali - Day 3 + Day 4

If you missed or wanna re-read earlier entries, here's Day 1 & Day 2.

Oh man, I do really want to go back to Bali soon!

For Day 3, we headed down to Ubud.
According to what I researched and read online, Ubud is like the arty-farty zone of Bali. In Ubud, it also has the famous monkey forest.

As we were driven down to Ubud, the driver stopped us at several touristy shops to look at paintings, silvers and batik.

I didn't fancy the idea but Nick seems quite keen so ok lor.

After all the "shopping" (waste of time really unless you are someone whos into buying such touristy stuff), we were brought to this other place for lunch.

Looking out, we saw the padi fields of Bali.

Prices were ... commercialised prices. Can't recall exactly how much but I wasn't too mindful as I am sure the places the driver brought us to comes with his commission factor in.

After lunch, another 10 - 15 minutes drive we reached the monkey temple!

The famous monkey forest is a sanctuary for monkeys where Balinese believed monkeys are God-like. So its no surprise there were 3 temples and 1 cemetery in it.

Monkeys were everywhere! At least, they aren't harrassing any of the tourist. Just minded their own business and occasionally they just leaped into your path and leaped away.

I circled one monkey in orange in the below picture is to share with you guys that this monkey came into the picture and forcefully fucked another monkey!

So you can see the people who were around were looking in that direction. Our random stranger who helped us to take the photo was distracted so when she took the shot, the action was over.

Still, a better shot of us now. :)

Sights of the Monkey Temple.

The weather was sunny and the place was "fresh". So many greenery and water.

This was like a wishing pond. We threw coins in and made a wish.

The place was big man!

This is the main temple.

But we couldn't enter because it was closed to public. Pity oh pity!

We walked past the cemetery too and I was very keen to go in to take a look.
However, Nick being him didn't like the idea so we didn't step in afterall. So no photos!

After we walked through the monkey forest, Nick and I headed out to walk the lill shops in Ubud.

I felt like I could walk all day!
Ubud shops are indeed arty-farty sort but many shops do repeat its wares.

So after an hour or so, we headed back to the car.

When I returned to Bali, I must spend a day at Ubud!!!

After Ubud, our next stop was Uluwatu Temple.

A friend of mine, based in Bali, told me that it is on the same direction as Jimbaran and Ubud was the other direction from Jimbaran. On hindsight (and recommended by my friend), we should have plan going both places on same day rather than Jimbaran Day 1 and then Day 3 Ubud then to Uluwatu temple.

So much time was wasted on traffic jam. GRRRR.

But Uluwatu Temple was beautiful.

I felt like I was at the end of the world / Bali, looking out towards infinity.
The temple was built at the end of the cliff and we made it in time for sun set.

This is a perfect location for people who wants to commit suicide. Honestly!

Before we entered, I have been warned by the driver to take out my earrings. As we were putting on the "robe.", I was told to remove my shades.

Then I knew why - the monkeys there were fierce man!
What they would do is to come towards us and snatched something from us. Then the staff would have to throw food to them before the monkeys would let go of our items and concentrate on the food.

Of course, the victim would have to also tip the staff.
Wouldn't be surprised if the monkeys were trained to do so. Both the staff and the monkey benefit from it, yes?

I felt reallly uncomfortable man. The monkeys were sitting the by ledge and each monkey you walked past, they eyed you over.

Guess what? Way of Life - just when you thought it wouldn't happen, it happened.

I became the bloody victim of my item being snatched away!!!

Nick passed me the camera's pouch and stepped 2 steps ahead to take some shot. I held it in my hands and hooked my arms at the back (I was hoping that monkeys would not spot my item and attempt).

Next thing I know, Nick turned towards me and yelled "be careful!"and I felt a tug at my hand. Naturally I let go of the pouch and the fucking monkey bit the pouch and climbed up a tree!!!

HOW AUDACIOUS!!

Oh my and not like I was alone with no one around ok! There were many tourists around me too! Obviously, Nick and I then became the centre of attention.

Staffs were on standby all around so someone responded to my loud gasp.

Unfortunately, we didn't have small change and we tipped the staff 15SIN. WAH LAOO HEART PAIN MAN.

Furthermore, Nick responded in a manly manner that makes the whole incident more ... upsetting. :(

I was quite traumatized ok!

Bloody monkeys. The pouch had a bite mark. And it wasn't my pouch!!
It was Gek's pouch. :((

CB monkeys. Really CB monkeys.

We walked around for a bit more before going back to the car and I gave Nick 1x good time for his lack of sensitivity to the incident. Hahaha.

After Uluwatu temple, we headed back and went for a dinner.
Prices were reasonable. No photos! Forgot to bring out the camera.
Hurhurhur.

Day 4 was our departure day. The flight timing was good - 1odd so we woke up at 10odd (shiok) and went for breakfast before packing up and taking our own time to reach the airport.

And that pretty much, rounds up our Bali trip.

Definitely, I would like to go back to Bali again. It has a lot to offer as a tourist destination. A lot of people who went Bali loves it.

To a lot of people who not been to Bali, I supposed it would conjure up images of beautiful beaches of sort. But its not really. Perhaps I went to the touristy beaches so it does not have crystal clear water or white sandy beach.

Bali's beauty is more of the ... places it has. The sights and sounds of each location. Each "zone" offers a different experience but as a whole, Bali has something for everyone.

Travelling with Nick needs to get used to. We are both very different individuals with different styles. Many a times we fought during the trip but I guess its just the way we see things differently. We are perfectly comfortable with each other but just need some time and effort for conditioning!

Hope you enjoyed my Bali entries as much as I enjoyed recapping and writing. :)

Bali - Day 2

Here's a continuation of my Bali trip that I went with Nick earlier this month!
If you missed Day 1 entry, here it is.

For Day 2, we went to Nusa Dua for water sports then for massage and to Tanah Lot.

A friend of mine who stays in Bali suggested Tanjung Benoa. It is less commercialised and still have the full range of water sports there. We didn't go there because I didn't manage to tie down with my friend on where I should go specifically so we followed to where our driver brought us too.

Sorry! No photos here because we were in contact with water and the camera was Gek's so Nick treated it like ... a diamond. It was securely locked in the locker the whole time.

When we arrived, we were asked to seat down and were given a menu. In the menu, it contains the range of activities this particular shop has - parasailing, jetskiing, diving, snorkelling and such.

I can't remember the exact pricing of each but its pretty commercialised pricing.

We paid USD125 for 3 activities for the 2 of us.

Nick and I selected jetskiing for 15 mins for 1, this new activity I never tried before - tubbing and a trip to turtle island.

I must add in this portion to forever remind myself - the more adrenaline rushing activities were selected by me and the trip to turtle island is selected by Nick. -___________-

Pity they don't have parasailing! It was too windy otherwise, I would have taken it up.

Jetski was fun! Nick never tried before so he had the go at it first. Then we do the switch and I ride. I probably went double the speed of Nick because his belief is 安全第一.

We then had the tubbing. I tried to google for images but it didn't show exactly what I did. Basically, you are on top of a "float" and the boat just pulled you along. Mind you, its a speed boat that was pulling us and it was going at sucha rate then not before long, we both were soaked in sea water.

Then we were brought to turtle island. This is where all the turtles are being kept and exhibit and there were some other captive animals on a small island too.

I didn't like it much. To begin with, I felt very uncomfortable seeing the sea turtles kept in such captivity manner. It seems like the area space too small for the number of turtles in it.

And then there were the captive animals that looked ominous and 2 baby monkeys were making such pitiful cries.

Really didn't like it. We took the boat back and then headed back to the main island where we washed up and left the water sports centre.

Our next destination - Massage!

We wanted to do a full fledged spa session but time constraints lah. By the time we were done and changed, it was closed to 2pm. The driver advise us to be done with massage by 4pm because we need to drive down to Tanah Lot before 6pm for the sun set. 2 hours of driving is projected because Kuta (where we were) is horrendous.

Really can fight with BKK or Shanghai jam.

When we first arrived in Bali, we took some leaflets for spa sessions and picked this particular one up. Comparing the prices and the package, we settled for Green Garden Hotel spa packages.

And what a coincidence! It is the same hotel that Wan and Sher stayed in Bali!! It not only offers spa packages, it is a hotel itself too.

We took on a massage package only. This massage package also includes head massage. Me love head massage!

If I remembered correctly, it was around SGD30 for a 2 hour package.
The prices are fairly reasonable. Wouldn't mind going back there again!

Quiet oh. Spa session in progress...

So after our massage, we were driven down to Tanah Lot (on time!).

Damn hungry so we popped by Breadtalk to get bread.

According to the driver, Tanah Lot supposedly had the best sunset. And it was one of the recommended places in Bali so I wanted to make a point to go there.

The photos I have seen online were beautiful. But I supposed when we were there, it was low tide and damn bloody crowded so the photos we took wasn't as beautiful.

Damn crowded. Tanah Lot was further in so we had to walk through many many souvenir shops to get to the REAL Tanah Lot.

There was a temple at the top.

I realllly wanted to go but before we are allowed to step up the steps, we had to get blessings.

So we did.

But for some reasons, the pathway was cordoned off halfway :( So we couldn't go all the way up to the temple. Not only do I have to dealt with the disappointment, I had to deal with Nick's smug look.

By the time we were done frolicking around Tanah Lot, we headed back and had the driver dropped us nearby the shopping mall and we went to grab dinner at the food court.

Just wanting to blog this date to remember something so in time to come, I will be able to remember the moment.

To be truthful, I am a lill worried and hesistant.

Ayes, why am I making sucha fuss out of a small thing?? Its not a guarantee-have anyways. And to begin with, I am never someone truly / easily contented.

I just need to learn how to stop having drama thoughts and my life and Nick's life would be all so peaceful.

But then again... how un-exciting that would be, no?

Oh but I do want it much. VERY much. It would work out all fine and dainty.

Above all, I think I just need to grow up.

Feeling Sick

Its the time of the month - crimson tide.

I have problems with my monthly auntie and the kind of problems I faced varies. It used to be really bad. Once every 2 months I would feel faint, turned pale, feeling nauseous, breaking out into cold sweat and having diarrhea.

Then it gotten better.

But this month one was bad. Like the above symptoms mentioned. Even now as I blogged, I feel very unwell.

HELP. Why am I so weak?
I have got sinus problem, skin problems and menses problems occasionally.

Bali - Day 1

Decided to do a day by day entries so that when I read back, I can fully soak in my feelings over and over again :D

Day 1

We took Air Asia - departing SIN 10am but got delayed due to heavy traffic so we reached for the skies only close to 10.30am.
Airport need to put ERP already lo.

We arrived just slightly after 9am. Must. Eat.

I didn't get a chance to meet Nick the night before as he was on night shift so the breakfast time allows some catching up time.

Then soon enough, it was time for boarding.

WEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

Upon reaching the airport, we had airport transfer to our hotel.

I stayed in the above hotel. Sorry! Silly boyfriend didn't take the hotel interior so I googled.

I had a standard room but with damn good view. I could see the pool and the beach a distance away.
And it does really look like the above.

Since it was day 1 and we wanted to take it slow. I did want to go out to a temple but heck, just decide to walk around our hotel and the mall next to our hotel.

Our hotel was located nearby a beach.

Kuta beach but ain't the prettiest around.

We had lunch first at A&W! :D But standard not so goood leh. :(

Then we walked around taking some couple shots.

We bought bottles of mineral water then headed back to hotel.
Then we met our driver at our hotel lobby and headed to Jimbaran for their sunset dinner.

We were there when it was still sunny.

And till the sun set.
Pity it was a lill cloudy so the sun disappear halfway.

Dinner was clean-ed clean!

We had a 1.8kg crab and a 500g tiger prawns. Although when we ordered, they showed us I believed they did a switch there after lah. We only had 4 prawns ok!

It was about S$125 for 2 of us.
Not cheap but I reallllly like the experience.

So after Jimbaran, we headed back to hotel to rest early for the night.
And that ends the entry here! Of Day 1 at least.

How Frustrating!

I wanted to log in yesterday or even the day before to Blogger and DBS iBanking but my Firefox kept appearing Untrusted Connection. I wasn't sure if its all right so I left it as such and then I realized that DBS system was down yesterday.

Fair enough if it affects my Firefox but why should it affect Blogger?? And I was trying to log into my Singpass to access my CPF and I faced this issue again. GRRR.

That was yesterday and I thought all should be fine but it still is having such error. I google-ed and realized its a problem faced by users since 2009 so I decided to just .... select "I understand the risks" and add Blogger to exception.

I am a lill hesitant for iBanking and gahment sites though.

GRRRR.

That aside, I am most pleased to share that I have returned for Bali for my birthday trip!!!!

Bintan Mutiara

Reason: To re-discover the luxury of doing nothing

Before you conjure up images of ... Bintan resorts, beach gateway, sipping cocktails by the pool, I have to stop you.

STOP! STOP!

Because this accommodation isn't a resort. It is a guesthouse where there is a common toilet with no heater, no air-conditioning and the whole guesthouse runs on a generator that is only enough to sustain one light bulb in outside our room that only switched on from 6-10pm.

Oh yes, they have vicious mosquito.

After 10pm, you are on your own (and the mosquitos).

It was a weekend Agnes and I took a ferry to Bintan Resorts ferry terminal from Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal.

Upon arrival in Bintan Resorts ferry terminal, we have to take an hour cab ride to Mutiara Bintan.

It is a rustic guesthouse with a shared hostel accommodation and several pondoks (please check website for meaning).
When we were there, we were the only occupants.

Check out the surroundings.

When we "checked-in", the staff told us to wait a while. And a while we did wait, then we realized why.

He went to pluck coconut from the trees nearby to serve us our welcome drinks!

The staff then walked us to our "room".

The room is a hut. Very back to basic as you can see. There is no electricity. No fan, no cupboard no safe box, no light.

Just a bed, a table in between the beds to put the mosquitos coil and a candle.

But it did look cosy and comfortable enough.

Apparently, Agnes did her research and is aware the mosquitos there are VENOMOUS and VINDICTIVE.

We have to lay the ground to show the mosquitos whos the boss.

Spraying none-stop around our bed.

Mosquito coils that we light up all 4 corners of the hut.

We stayed a total of 3 days and 2 nights. And really, there is nothing to do except to go to the sand flies infested beach and go to the aroma river spa.

I really like the concept of the aroma river spa.

We did massage twice - once when we just arrived and was walking around to explore and another time on the 2nd day.

It is REALLY a river spa.

I hope I can explain the location proper.
Mutiara (where we stayed) is like .... Lucky Plaza in Orchard. The river spa is located at... Ngee Ann city location. To get there, we need to cross the river (machiam the traffic road inbetween). We can don't have to cross the river with a sampan and walk through a longer route like from Lucky Plaza to Paragon then to Ngee Ann City.

We walked there first.

The road to heaven is never easy.

On the way, we chanced upon ... Locations suitable for taking photos.

We have reached heaven!

Their massage is really solid. The price are around Singapore price but REALLY REALLY, they are good.

I don't mind doing a day trip just for it! But the travelling is quite a hassle lah from the ferry terminal to there and back again.

Let me show you the interior of the massage room.

1. Our massage room with twin bed
2. Small room
3. The comfortable bed but with one kind of a smell lah.
4. You know how after you are done with massage and such, there is a shower room for you? In Bintan, the showering room is a shower point within the room at the corner. They refill urns with water and you shower with ... a ladle.

Wonder why it is a called river spa? Because it is located on a river! The huts are built on the stilts on the river.

The massage is really good.

No mosquitos there!
Plus 100 points.

We took a sampan back. Heehee.

As this is only a guesthouse with a generator only for a light bulb, there were no other entertainment except to hang out by the sand flies infested beach and massage.

In fact, for meals we had to have it in-house. Meals aren't that cheap but since there is no other choice, we had to settle with what they had.

They do have a menu that consists of the usual malay food like Mee Goreng, Nasi Goreng and such. I supposed it is due to the location, the food offered were not a lot and the maggi goreng is not the maggi goreng we have here.

Their maggi goreng... is the instant maggi goreng. Ha tasty nevertheless!

Breakfast is included and on 2nd day, the breakfast were pancakes!
Yummy yummy pancakes.

I brought a book to read there.

But it was damn annoying with the mosquitos. I literally held up the mosquito coil, sat outside and read.
But after a while, I had to give up.

The mosquitors are poison.

But for some reasons, Agnes were able to tolerate them more than me.

On the second night, Agnes took out her fire sparkles and we played and laughed hysterically.
Ha sorry no photos of me coz I wear till very chui and very auntie.

For some reason, I can't remember clearly how our 3 days 2 nights passed.

Just remembered the first night I slept soundly, second night I woke up in the middle of the night wanting to pee but it was so damn dark, I tahan till I see day light.

And I didn't sleep while I tahan so that wee hours was miserable for me. Afraid to step out for the mosquitos are too active but felt bit warm in my bed.

It was good time spent with pumpkin still :D :D :D

Evening gowns or dressier dress for rent / purchase.

Anyone knows where I can find?

For an upcoming wedding dinner that I have been told not once, not twice but thrice (!) that it is formal enough to warrant a gown-like dress.

Not only the location - Capella Hotel, but also the attendees of the wedding would be there to for such fitting. Not only that, it is my family first wedding mah! Important enough be well dressed. :D

Anyone gone to JB and look for it before?
